TOPEKA, Kan. – Construction on Kansas’ latest transitional care development is now underway. Mainstreet® broke ground today on The Healthcare Resort of Topeka.

The property, located at 6202 SW 6th Ave. in Topeka, will boast 94 beds, 69,935 square feet and will provide transitional care (short-stay rehabilitation and therapy) and assisted living in a service-rich environment.

The project, which represents a total community investment of $16 million, is expected to bring 225 construction jobs and approximately 90 permanent jobs at the property itself. Construction should be complete by spring 2016.

“We are excited about this development,” said Larry Wolgast, mayor of Topeka. “And we are certainly energized by Mainstreet coming to Topeka and providing an opportunity to provide growth to our economic base.”

As a transitional care center, The Healthcare Resort of Topeka will offer hospitality-oriented care with amenities such as a therapy gym, an outdoor rehabilitation courtyard, movie theatre, game room, a spa, an on-site chef and more.

“Our Next Generation properties are designed to get people well and get them home,” said Zeke Turner, founder and CEO of Mainstreet. “We remain steadfast in our mission to transform the way health care is delivered nationwide. The Healthcare Resort of Topeka ultimately gives aging Americans what they want – more services, more amenities and more attention.”
